Myrtle Creek (Horse Creek) Covered Bridge
Location:
Exit Interstate 5 at Myrtle Creek. Follow Highway 99, the main street through downtown. The bridge is to the west in Mill Site Park.
Background:
Built in 1930, Horse Creek Covered Bridge originally spanned Horse Creek in the vicinity of McKenzie Bridge in Lane County.
Although the bridge had been bypassed by a concrete span in 1968, it was not removed until December of 1987.
Myrtle Creek-Canyonville Tour Route
Length: 68 miles / 108.8 km
Fees: There are fees associated with parking for more than a few hours near trailhead markers. Also, permits are required.
Description
You'll be sorely disappointed if you didn't pack a lunch and make the exploration of this route an all-day excursion. The route follows South Myrtle Creek through hills dotted with cattle, sheep, and wild turkeys. The trees are often so dense that they only occasionally let you peek at the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness to the east.
Oregon Caves Monument

Driving Directions
Take US Highway 97 south from Bend, Oregon. Just past La Pine is a junction with Oregon Highway 31 and the north end of the Byway. Travel south on Highway 31 toward Silver Lake and Lakeview. The Byway turns onto US 395 just north of Lakeview and continues south to the Oregon/California border.
Pass Creek Covered Bridge
Location:
From Highway 99 (West B Street) in Drain, turn south onto 2nd Street and go one block to West A Street. Located in the city of Drain, behind Drain Civic Center at 205 W. A Street.
Background:
Although the official date of construction of the current Pass Creek Bridge is listed as 1925, members of the Umpqua Historic Preservation Society attest the span was constructed in 1906.
